Abstract

Ovaj završni rad istražuje pojam pogleda u modnom dizajnu slijedeći teoriju Laure Mulvey o tzv. muškom pogledu, spomenutom u eseju Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema. Rad uspostavlja teorijski okvir, analizirajući kako se koncept kao što je male gaze , a posljedično i female gaze , prenosi iz kinematografije na dizajn odjeće. Nadahnut teorijama Johna Bergera i Laure Mulvey, rad propituje kako javnost percipira i interpretira odjeću te dva različita pogleda prisutna tijekom dizajnirana istog. Također analizira kako dizajneri, bez obzira na spol, rabe pristupe dvaju pogleda, istražujući specifičnosti dizajna koje odražavaju društvene i ekonomske norme.

Abstract (english)

This thesis explores the concept of gaze in design using Laura Mulvey's theory of the so-called male gaze, mentioned in the essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema." The thesis establishes a theoretical framework, analyzing how the concept of male gaze, and consequently the female gaze, is transferred from cinematography to clothing design. Inspired by the theories of John Berger and Laura Mulvey, the thesis examines how the public perceives and interprets clothing, and the two different gazes present during its design. It also analyzes how designers, regardless of gender, use approaches of the two gazes, exploring design specifics that reflect social and economic norms.
