Abstract

Diplomski rad je rađen iz pretežito opisnog dijela, dok se praktični dio odnosi na razgovore s modnim dizajnerima te kustosima muzeja koji su navedeni u poglavljima koji nas vode ka razradi i zaključku teme. Rad je koncipiran kroz pet poglavlja u kojima je izložen proces razvoja muzealizacije mode kao i uloga te funkcija muzeja u kulturnom društvu uz prilagodbe u odnosu na modu i suvremenu umjetnost. Neki od autora na koje će se referirati dio rada s fokusom na muzej bit će Andre Gob i Noemie Drouguet te djelo ‘Muzeologija’ (2007.), a ključna literatura od koje polazi ovaj rad je ‘Encyclopedia of Clothing and Fashion’, autorice Valerie Steele (2005.). Poglavlje ‘Fashion museums and colections’ pružit će se uvid u proces razvoja muzealizacije mode od prvih privatnih modnih zbirki kolekcionara, preko izlaganja povijesne odjeće u prostoru muzeja pa sve do komercijalizacije modnih izložbi kroz rad Diane Vreeland. Cilj rada je kroz mnoštvo praktičnih primjera pokazati ulogu muzeja kao prostora promocije i prezentacije modnih opusa i trendova te dokazati kako unatoč brojnim kustosima koji ne odobravaju suradnje muzeja i modnih kuća, moda zaslužuje svoje mjesto u muzeju i jednako je vrijedna umjetnička grana kao i sva ostala umjetnička područja.

Abstract (english)

This Master's Thesis is made up of a predominantly descriptive part, while the practical part refers to conversations with fashion designers and museum curators, which are listed in the chapters that lead us to the elaboration and conclusion of the topic. The work is conceived through five chapters in which the process of development of musealization of fashion is presented, as well as the role and function of museums in cultural society with adjustments in relation to fashion and contemporary art. Some of the authors to be referenced in the museum-focused work will be Andre Gob and Noemie Drouguet and the work 'Museology' (2007), and the key literature from which this work is based is 'Encyclopedia of Clothing and Fashion', by Valerie Steele (2005). The ‘Fashion museums and collections’ chapter will provide insight into the process of developing the musealisation of fashion from the first private fashion collections of collectors, through the display of historical clothing in the museum space to the commercialization of fashion exhibitions through the work of Diane Vreeland. The aim of this paper is to show the role of the museum as a space for the promotion and presentation of fashion works and trends and to prove that despite the many curators who do not approve of cooperation between museums and fashion houses, fashion deserves its place in the museum and is as valuable an art branch as all others artistic areas.
