Abstract

Cilj rada je istražiti odjevnu formu s portretirane Lucretie Chandler s naglaskom na haljinu, njezin kroj, tkaninu od koje je izrađena i prisutne modne detalje. Istraživanje se temelji na portretu, artefaktima, povijesnim okolnostima sredine 18. stoljeća u kolonijalnoj Americi i utjecaju engleskog imperija na sve sfere života uključujući i odijevanje. Kroz istraživanje uočene su razlike između engleske i francuske haljine i dominantom utjecaju Engleza na grad Boston kao glavnu kolonijalnu luku sjeverne Amerike. Jedino nakon pažljive analize portreta, artefakta i uključivanja povijesnih okolnosti moguće je utvrditi o kakvoj haljini i stilu odijevanja se radi. Kao podloga za izradu rada koristile su se knjige, online priručnici i objave na web stranicama.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this paper is an interpretation attempt and clothing analysis from the portrait of Lucrezia Chandler with center of interest in a gown, cut, fabric and types of fashion accessories. The research is based on portrait, artifacts, historical circumstances of the mid- 18th century in colonial America and the influence of the English (British) Empire on all spheres of life including clothing. Through research, differences were observed between the English and French gown and the the most significant influence of the English way of life on the Boston city as the main colonial port of North America. Only after a careful analysis of the portrait, the artifact and consideration of historical circumstances it was possible to determine kind of gown and fashion style. Books, online manuals and publications on websites were used to create this work.
