Abstract

Nakon 1955. godine otvaranjem granice, potrebe potrošača za simbolima zapadne kulture
ostvarene su u Trstu. Odlazak u shopping u Trst nije bila sam društvena praksa već i kulturni
fenomen. Diplomski rad koncentrirat će se na kupnju odjeće i sociološke aspekte mode s
nalaskom na pitanje konzumerizma u doba socijalističkog uređenja na našim prostorima. Donijet
će i osvrt na sinergiju stilova koji dolaze sa zapada u susretu sa smjernicama koje je propisivao
društveno-komunističko uređenje. Zatim, istraživački dio rada sakuplja i analizira sjećanja na
kupovinu u Trstu metodom usmene povijesti s ciljem produbljivanja znanja o putovanjima u Trst
iz Hrvatske šezdesetih i sedamdesetih godina prošlog stoljeća.

Abstract (english)

After the opening of the border in 1955, consumer needs for symbols of Western culture were
met in Trieste. Going shopping in Trieste was not only a social practice but also a cultural
phenomenon. This thesis will concentrate on the purchase of clothing and sociological aspects of
fashion with a focus on the issue of consumerism in the era of socialist order in this area. It will
also bring a review of the synergy of styles coming from the West facing the guidelines
prescribed by the social-communist order. Then, the research part of the thesis collects and
analyzes memories of shopping in Trieste using the method of oral history with the aim of
deepening the knowledge about the practice of travel to Trieste from Croatia in the 1960s and
1970s.
