Abstract

Cilj ovog rada je istražiti utjecaj transhumanizma na modni dizajn i njegov pristup
oblikovanja ljudskog tijela i tijela kao pojma suvremene mode. Diplomski rad koji se bavi
odnosom transhumanizma i modnog dizajna zahtijeva teorijsku analizu suvremene paradigme
filozofije, umjetnosti i znanosti koja već uvelike mijenja ne samo definicije čovjeka i prirode,
već ponajprije razumijevanje dizajna u cjelini. U okviru istraživanja bilo je potrebno definirati
pojam transhumanizma i njegovu povezanost s biotehnologijom, posthumanizmom, te
općenito napretkom 3D skeniranja i modeliranja, koje sugerira mogućnost ljudskog tijela koje
je prilagodljivo i otvorenog koda. U radu će se problematizirati niz teorijskih pristupa
kibernetičkom shvaćanju svijeta, promjeni odnosa tijela i društvene okoline, da bi se pokazalo
kako modni dizajn u 21. stoljeću postaje eksperiment stvaranja novih hibridnih struktura
tjelesnosti, što ima bitne posljedice za kreativne ekonomije i informacijska društva
današnjice. Modni dizajneri koji provode u djelo transhumanističke ideje poput Chalayana i
drugih pokazuju kako se između znanosti, umjetnosti i tehnologije pitanje egzistencije
ljudskog tijela uspostavlja vodećim pitanjem našeg vremena. Iz ovakvog transhumanističkog
scenarija stvorit će se novi standardi ljepote u kojima bi mutacijske kreacije kolonizirale naš
trenutni tradicionalni osjećaj stvarnosti.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the influence of transhumanism on fashion design and
its approach to shaping the human body and body as a concept of contemporary fashion. The
thesis dealing with the relationship between transhumanism and fashion design requires a
theoretical analysis of the contemporary paradigm of philosophy, art and science, which
already greatly changes not only the definitions of man and nature, but above all the
understanding of design as a whole. The research needed to define the concept of
transhumanism and its connection with biotechnology, posthumanism, and the progress of 3D
scanning and modeling in general, which suggests the possibility of a human body that is
adaptable and open source. The thesis will discuss a number of theoretical approaches to
cybernetic understanding of the world, changing the relationship between the body and the
social environment, to show how fashion design in the 21st century is becoming an
experiment in creating new hybrid body structures, which has important consequences for
today's creative economies and information societies. Fashion designers who put into action
transhumanist ideas like Chalayan and others show that between science, art, and technology,
the question of the existence of the human body is established by the leading question of our
time. From such a transhumanist scenario, new standards of beauty will be created in which
mutational creations would colonize our current traditional sense of reality.
