Abstract

Vlakno borovog prelca je prirodno, životinjsko, proteinsko vlakno, sačinjeno od dva fibroina omotana sericinom što ga čini karakterističnim vlaknom svile. Ovu novu vrstu svilenih vlakana sistematiziramo pod divljom svilom karakteričnog područja Mediterana te zbog toga i nosi naziv Mediteranska divlja svila. Borov prelac inače je jedan od najvećih defolijatora borovih kultura na Mediteranu koji se represivno suzbija u nezadovoljavajućoj mjeri. U ovom radu, borovog prelca ne gledamo s stajališta štetnika, već kao potencijalnog predstavnika divlje svile u svrhu tekstilno-tehnoloških svojstava te kao novog tekstilnog biomaterijala. Rad prikazuje mogućnost dobivanja svilenih vlakana koristeći proces demineralizacije i degumiranja svilenih vlakana s EDTA i limunskom kiselinom, koristeći miješalicu i ultrazvučnu kadu. Karakterizacija uzoraka provela se metodama: gubitkom mase, mikroskopskom metodom (SEM), optičkom digitalnom mikroskopijom (DINO lite), rendgenskom spektroskopijom (SEM – EDS), spektroskopskom metodom (FTIR – ATR), termogravimetrijskom analizom (TG) te finoćom, čvrstoćom i prekidnim istezanjem vlakana.

Abstract (english)

The pine processionary (lat. Thaumetopoea pityocampa) produces a natural, protein type fiber of animal source. Fiber is made out of two fibroin filaments wrapped with sericine, which is characteristic for silk fibers. This type of silk is called Mediterranean wild silk since the occurrence of producer species is reserved for Mediterranean area. The pine processionary is major cause of defoliation of Pinus species in the Mediterranean area, in spite of efforts to reduce the population of this insect in repressive manners. This master's thesis examines texile-technological properties of Mediterranean wild silk as potential textile biomaterial. The process of extraction was preformed in laboratory shaker and ultrasound bath by demineralisation and degumming of wild silk fiber with ethylenediamintetraacetic (EDTA) and citric acid. Characterization was performed by following methods: loss of mass, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis, fineness, tenacity and elongation at break of treated fibers.
