Abstract

Od svojih početaka u antičkoj Grčkoj sve do danas, scenska se umjetnost kontinuirano razvijala, ali uvijek je zagovarala hijerarhijske vrijednosti. Na prijelazu iz 19. u 20. stoljeće dolazi do preokreta i nastanka prve avangarde koja ruši sve dotadašnje kazališne konvencije i konvencije prisutne u svijetu umjetnosti u širem smislu. Jedan od značajnijih predstavnika tog razdoblja upravo je bio Oskar Schlemmer koji je svojim Trijadnim baletom značajno doprinio razvoju moderne kostimografije u svijetu scenskih umjetnosti. Izgled kostima i maski Trijadnog baleta temeljio se na jednostavnim, geometrijskim likovima koji su svojom skulpturalnošću onemogućavali fluidnost pokreta te tako preobražavali plesača/performera u lutku/marionetu. Teorijski je dio ovog rada posvećen povijesnoj analizi razvoja europske scenske umjetnosti, maske i kostima od antičke Grčke do zatvaranja škole Bauhausa. U praktičnom sam dijelu, inspirirana Schlemmerovim inovativnim pristupom odnosu tijela i prostora te korištenjem bazičnih geometrijskih oblika i boja, odlučila realizirati tri različite maske bazirane na tri pojedinačna čina/akta Trijadnog baleta.

Abstract (english)

From their early beginnings in ancient Greece all the way to the present, performing arts have been continually developing but have always maintained a hierarchical structure. The big turnaround happened at the transition from the 19th to the 20th century with the appearance of the first avant-garde movement which broke all former theatrical and artistic conventions. One of the most prominent representatives of the period was Oskar Schlemmer, whose Triadic ballet significantly influenced the development of modern theatrical costume design. The appearance of costumes and masks worn in the Triadic ballet was based on simple geometric shapes, which hindered fluid movements with its sculptural design and therefore transformed dancers/performers into puppets/ marionettes. The literary part of this thesis analyses the history of European performing art as well as mask and costume design development from ancient Greece up until the closure of the Bauhaus art school. Inspired by Schlemmer’s innovative approach to the relation of body to space as well as the use of basic geometric shapes and colours, I decided to create three masks based on the three individual acts of the Triadic ballet as the experimental part of my thesis.
