Abstract

Poimanje stroja, kakvo je prevladavalo sredinom 20.tog stoljeća, shvaćen kao potencijalno opasni koncept sa potencijalom da negativno i hostilno utječe na društvo se, danas, u potpunosti promijenio. Stoj u današnjem svijetu više nije samo oruđe ili uređaj nego sve više postaje „prijatelj“, suputnik i korisni „umjetni mozak“. Kompjuterska umjetnost, nastala i razvijena tijekom dvadesetog stoljeća, zajedno uz razvoj kibernetike, krajem stoljeća prerasla je u informatičku znanost odnosno Machine Art je prerasla u digitalnu umjetnost ili medijsku umjetnost. Mogućnost pretvaranja jednog oblika energije u drugi, što je u samoj srži definicije stroja/mašine, navodi nas da promatramo kompjutersku umjetnost kao produkt rada umjetnika i stroja odnosno da ju imenujemo kao kompjutersku umjetnost ili strojnu /mašinsku umjetnost ( Machine Art). Pokretom „Nove tendencije“ je kroz niz izložbi, simpozija i tiskovnih publikacija, u razdoblju između 1968.god. i 1973. Godine realizirana sinergija između teoretskih promišljanja o tome kakva bi umjetnost trebala biti i praktičnog umjetničkog djelovanja uporabom stroja. Umjetnik, pri stvaranju umjetničkog djela, nasumično mijenja algoritam1 stroja ili funkcije istog te ih koristi na posve nov, umjetnički način. Suvremeni primjer takve umjetničke prakse su Deep Dreaming i Glitch Art. Danas smo svjedoci kreiranja pametne odjeće ( Smart Clothing) koja ima ugrađene mikro čipove odnosno senzore i informacije o promjenama bilo u tijelu korisnika bilo u okolini te ih šalje direktno na zaslon mobitela.

Abstract (english)

The notion of machines prevailing in the middle of the 20th century was understood as a potentially dangerous concept with the potential negative and hostile influence on a society is completely changed today. The machine in the modern-day world is not just only a tool or device, but is becoming more and more of a “friend“, companion and a useful “artificial brain”. Computer art, originated and developed in the 20th century, together with the development of cybernetics at the end of the last century, turned into information science, i.e. Machine Art transformed into digital or media art. The possibility of transforming one form of energy into another one, which is in the very essence of the machine's definition, makes us both observe computer art as a product of the artist’ and machine’s work, i.e., label it as Computer Art or Machine Art. The movement „Nove tendencije“ realized through a series of exhibitions, symposiums and printed publications from 1968 to 1973 a synergy between theoretical consideration on how art should be and the practical artistic activities by using a machines. By creating a piece of art, the artist randomly changes2 of the machine or its functions, and uses them in an entirely new, artistic way. A modern-day example such artistic practice is Deep Dreaming and Glitch Art. Today, we witness the creation of smart clothing with built-in microchips, i.e. sensors and information on changes of both the user's body and in the environment and sends it directly to the cell phone screen.
